Whitehorse # 3
Some of Jane's for a change
Jane has a good eye. She sees things I don't. She often gets shots that I prefer to mine. I thought I'd share some of hers with you for a change. :-) These are all Jane's.
This was her shot of the first class dining room on the paddle wheeler.
Along the Yukon River.
Outside a museum in Whitehorse.
A couple of local choices.
We always love seeing wildlife. This black bear crossed the road in front of us. Jane managed a quick shot as it slipped into the woods.
A well-weathered sign. It seems appropriate somehow for the north.
In a museum. I'm always inspired how artists see the world, or at least how they interpret it.
How cute is this? Stopped here for a cone.
Emerald Lake. It's pretty obvious why they chose the name.
Folding hills at Emerald Lake.
A cute house in Carcross.
A small church that caught her eye.
Memories of Moose Jaw. As kids, we pulled the 'spears' from this grass (we called it Foxtail or just spear grass) and threw them at other kids (you had to be really close because the spears were small & light) and they'd stick to their clothes. Jane's shot of it was much better than mine. So much for DSLR vs point & shoot. I blame the camera rather than my talents. :-)
Ones that caught Jane's eye at the fish ladder.
I think the Caribbean one was her favourite.
They have a fish cam at the ladder. The salmon run is late July to early August. Here's a link to the camera --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kjn_M4FwHAY&feature=youtu.be
There was a downpour while we were in Whitehorse. The street turned into a small river. We heard there was a downpour in Oshawa while we we away too. This kid wanted to see how deep it was I guess. It was well over the curb. This is a street beside Doug's place.
Pretty common in 'frontier' areas, whether you're in Ontario or the Yukon. I think the big ones are from a Caribou.
This is an odd one. To us at least. 'The Muffin' in Haines Junction.
Different areas, different wildflowers. Not sure what these were but they covered a huge field. Pretty.
Some of the mountains have snow.
Another highlight ... Jane snapped this from the car. We were close.
