Oshawa Second Marsh - April 19th, 2011

I was down at the marsh for a couple hours today. Not much to photograph (that I saw) but according to a couple guys I met, I just missed seeing 4 deer. And a couple Herons flew over but too far away for a good shot. So the day turned into a Fungus-Moss shoot pretty much.

Tree moss...

Not sure what this is from. Rabbit? It looked too big for a squirrel.

Most corporate workers are in skyscrapers or at least surrounded by some form of concrete jungle.  General Motors HQ on the other hand is on the southern edge of Oshawa, immediately next to Second Marsh, McLaughlin Bay Wildlife Area (sponsored by GM) and Darlington Provincial Park. There are two ponds within a stone's throw of the HQ building and Lake Ontario is a few hundred yards to the south. For the nature lovers that work here, they must count themselves extremely lucky.

A few of the workers make a point of exploring the area on their lunch hours or maybe after work. Even if they're too busy to actually get out and enjoy nature, they sure have a beautiful view out the office windows. And I'm sure fellow workers often point out things outside, including the resident Turkey Vulture that often perches on the building.
