Cranberry Marsh
October 2015

"Go and walk with Nature; thou wilt find full many a gem in her enchanted cup."
     ~
Isaac McLellan ~ 1806-1899

I hadn't been to Cranberry for a while. I was there a couple weeks ago. It's a hotspot for migrating waterfowl.

Egrets stand out from the crowd with their brilliant white plumage.

The colorful growth on shore caught my eye.
Wood Ducks are our most colorful. Gorgeous. Nature seems to want to show off sometimes.

An island unto themselves, albeit a small one.

The hen sleeps while the drake stands guard.

Synchronized flight.
Enjoying the day on their own.
The tree captured a stone.

In some spots lakeshore stones are all gray ones... in other places they're a splash of colors.

Not everyone carves their initials or names. Cute.

Fungus on a Birch.
Zebra mussels will be forever with us I expect. They were introduced from the ballast of ships we're told.
